4 Ways to Wear Black This Summer

The following is a guest post from Nicole Betti.

Let’s be real… No colour can ever be “the new black”. Trendy colours come and go, but style purists never abandon black. Why? Because it’s classic, foolproof and painfully chic, no matter what. Let’s not forget its magical figure-flattering powers or the fact that it instantly makes you look a little more dressed up.

When temperatures heat up and summer fun kicks off, some of us feel internal pressure to avoid black and opt for only bright, cheery shades. I am here to liberate you from that pressure with a few helpful tips that will let you rock black all summer long.

1. Accessory Pop

What better way to make a collection of bright accessories pop than an all-black outfit? If you’re in a simple black dress, you can absolutely get away with yellow shoes, bright pink earrings, and a green purse. In fact, having a black canvas lets your fun accessories really pop and get the attention they deserve.

2. Layer with Colour

Make the main elements of the outfit black, but throw in a coloured layer either underneath or on top. Black pants and a shirt gives you the freedom to wear that neon green tank underneath or your favourite purple cardigan that needs a lot of space to breath.

3. Delicate Fabrics

Black looks a little less severe when it’s used in delicate, feminine fabrics. Some light materials that are perfect for summer are lace, linen and viscose. A black cotton dress with a lace border or sheer panels comes across as perfectly airy and warm weather appropriate despite the dark colour.

4. Neutral Mix

For some reason, mixing black, white and tan just seems to scream summer. That’s especially true if you opt for natural materials. Just think about how summery chic it would look to wear a flowy black skirt, a white tank, a tan straw hat and a camel-coloured leather bag. It’s simple summer style at its very best.

For Men: Kenzo “Windows Checks” Sweater

Kenzo does clean-cut with a hint of casual perfectly. I absolutely love this Kenzo check sweater, made from 100% cotton. As styled here, pair this with a polo top and a pair of shorts and you’ll look great! Alternatively, for the colder months, this sweater will look equally awesome with a pair of jeans.

Kenzo Men’s Spring/Summer 2015

Full of pastel tones and patterns, Kenzo men’s Spring/Summer 2015 is as colourful as expected. Quirky, striped coats, trousers and sweatshirts are shown alongside spotted suits, jackets and shorts, while soft pastel pink knitwear and pastel green and blue casual wear, including printed vests, fool you into thinking it could be a perfect summer after all, with beaming sunshine and countless days out at the beach. It may not be true, but it’s nice to dream, and these clothes are absolutely beautiful.

Kenzo never get it wrong!
